The region is located in the West of the country on the southern shore of Lake Maracaibo; from the South-East and South-West, it is surrounded by the Venezuelan Andes mountain range, and from the north, it adjoins the Caribbean Sea. It has an unusually stable warm and humid climate, ideal for growing delicate and fastidious elite flavoured cocoa varieties.
